

NAPLAN
NAPLAN (National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy) is an annual test for years 3, 5, 7, and 9, assessing reading, writing, spelling, and numeracy. Its scores may be used by selective schools to identify high achievers.
Program Structure

Year 3 - NAPLAN

Persuasive Writing: State an opinion, give reasons, use simple introduction, body and conclusion, write clear sentences with correct spelling and punctuation.

Narrative Writing: Write a narrative with beginning, middle and end, develop simple characters and setting, sequence events logically, use descriptive words.

Reading: Identify main ideas, locate information, make simple inferences, understand vocabulary, answer multiple choice and short responses.

Conventions of Language: Spell common words, use capitals and full stops, write simple grammatically correct sentences, correct basic errors.

Numeracy: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple fractions, time, money, length, mass, capacity, read simple graphs, solve word problems.
